Controller
The controller for data processing on this website within the meaning of the GDPR is the operator of how2ship.net, reachable at info@how2ship.net. Further details about the operator are in the legal notice.
Hosting & server log files
The website runs on our own server in Helsinki, Finland; the database is operated by Supabase (Supabase Inc., USA). When you open the site, technically necessary server log data is recorded (including IP address, date and time, page requested, browser and device type) in order to deliver the page and keep operations secure. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in stable, secure operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Any transfer to the USA takes place on the basis of appropriate safeguards (standard contractual clauses / EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework).
Click statistics
When you click an agent link, we store which agent was clicked, from which part of the site (e.g. calculator or home page) and when. If the click comes from the price comparison, we additionally store the key facts of that comparison: destination country, weight class, shipping category, the agent's position in the result list, and the rounded price gap to the cheapest offer. These facts describe the comparison, not you. We also keep daily totals of how often the comparison is used per destination country, shipping category and weight class, and likewise of how the haul planner is used (for example: haul started, item added, comparison opened — each with destination, rough item and weight class, and whether weights were estimated or entered manually; on a click to an agent additionally which agent) — without timestamps and without any identifier. All of this is collected without cookies and without your IP address; on its own it allows no conclusions about your person. The purpose is improving our service and accountability towards partners (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Cookies and local storage
The public part of the website sets no tracking or marketing cookies. If you pick a language in the header, we store that choice in a functional cookie (ac_lang). That is the only way the page can already be delivered in the right language on your next visit. If you use the haul planner, your browser stores your haul locally (h2s_haul): chosen item categories, quantities, weights and destination country — so your plan is still there on your next visit. The entry stays until you clear the haul or your browser data, and never leaves your device. For channel attribution, one entry is placed in your browser's session storage on your first visit (h2s_erstkontakt): a channel keyword from a fixed list (such as "tiktok") and the entry page (such as "/"). It contains no identifier and no referring address, applies only to the current tab, and is deleted by the browser when the tab is closed. The language cookie contains no personal data. Technically necessary storage for signing in applies solely to the internal admin area.

how2ship.net links to external providers (the listed agents and the product finder finds.how, currently reachable at w2c.how). When you follow such a link you leave our site; the respective operators are responsible for data processing there. If you sign up through a referral link, we may receive a benefit, at no extra cost to you.
Your rights
